Math, Language Arts Update

19 Apr

Math Grade 5 – We have started a unit on collecting data and interpreting graphs. We will then be working on translations, rotations, and reflections with 2-D shapes. There doesn’t tend to be much homework with this unit but as we move more into the middle of May, I will be beginning a thorough review of all concepts studied this year. There then may be some review work appearing at home during that time.

Math Grade 6 –  They have also started a unit on collecting data and interpreting graphs. We will then be working on translations, rotations, and reflections with 2-D shapes. There doesn’t tend to be much homework with these units, but as we move more into the middle of May, I will be commencing a thorough review of all concepts studied this year in preparation for the June assessment. There then may be some review work appearing at home during that time.

Language Arts – We are halfway through the novel “The Great Gilly Hopkins”. Students have completed four chapters of comprehension activities, and the marks have been sent to their school Gmail accounts. They can pass on these results to parents. In writing, a few students are finishing up the persuasive essays, and I have begun marking them. When they are all corrected, they will be sent home for parents to sign.
